Moderator-Elect RE Steve Loman asked that the following article be made available to the presbytery. The article is titled, “Turning the Holy Spirit loose in our Polity” and was published on the Presbyterian Outlook website in August 2019.
It is about how our church bodies (Congregations, Presbyteries, Synods, and GA) need to adapt and not be held back by traditional policies. The article gives examples of how this has been done and how our new(er) Book of Order facilitates this “permission-giving” rather than “regulatory” framework.
